It can signify sacrifices which are necessary to maintain essential balance, whether it be that of a fiscal budget, personal or interpersonal emotional equilibrium, or any other crucial balance. On a broader scale this may mean making sacrifices for family or even society at large: perhaps giving up one's free day to take part in a cleanup day at a school or park, or giving up much free time or money to help care for ailing family members. Every now and then it is necessary that people go without for the greater good.

The number two can also indicate a plurality, and combined with the decisive power of Air can represent a democratic vote, or people coming together to decide anything.
