Air

 

The element Air concerns thoughts, concepts, decisions, and logic. It is knowledge. It is the rational component to that which steers the mind and being, and that which ultimately holds the power of choice. The realm of air is the realm of calculation and modeled reality— the realm where the most comprehensive understanding is possible.

    • Something which one has studied and thought about extensively, to the point where they can contribute helpful knowledge whenever it is needed.

    • Being able to see beyond one's own biases.

The Attainment of Air is rationality triumphant. It is the righting of aspects in the realms of many elements, through the mastery of intellect and analysis. Comprehensive understanding and functional knowledge are inherent in the attainment of Air, as is the ability to maintain a level and objective stance, and these endowments make possible all manner of achievements.

This card may represent true expertise in any field, or a trustworthy and competent scholar.

    • Suddenly seeing something clearly, without hindrance.
    • A gift of insight which may clear up a vexing problem.
    • Suddenly being unvexed by something perhaps long troubling.
    • A gift of knowledge about a certain subject, which may remove previous barriers to understanding.
    • Something finally making sense.
    • Becoming unvexed, removing a source of frustration, breaking a bad habit, getting a better perspective.
    • Making a helpful decision.
    • Speaking the truth, perhaps to power— clearing the air.
    • Getting something, possibly unpleasant, done and out of the way.
    • Recalling crucial knowledge.
    • Clearing the air, telling all, possibly admitting guilt.
    • Getting someone to fess up.
    • Getting the truth revealed.
    • Dispensing with small talk and frivolities; getting down to business.
    • Getting priorities squared away, or setting a top priority.

As with all Emergent elements, this card most likely represents a proverbial gift from the universe, something new related to the element Air. However, since Air is the element of choices, of decisions, such a gift may come from one's own actions: making a helpful decision, or getting something unpleasant out of the way.

On other occasions an Air-related boon may seem to appear out of thin air, like when a the answer to a puzzle finally comes to mind.
