The Tome is a card representing established ways. It could literally symbolize research utilizing books and libraries, but it more generally implies treading established roads, and learning from one's predecessors. This card may represent a prominent philosophy, religion, or any other similar movement, or it could represent learning from established teachers and popular experts.

Because The Tome deals with paths and stories which could last through the ages, it is a major in the realm of Ether.

Card Affiliations

The Tome is the Two Worlds Tarot counterpart to The Hierophant, Major Arcana number V in the Waite-Smith tarot and in many universal tarot decks. This card's meaning differs moderately from the universal meanings widely used for The Hierophant. Universal meanings for The Hierophant can be substituted or used to alter this card's meaning if the reader desires.
